Amy has lived in Brooklyn for over twenty years, documenting the textures and colors of its streets in her paintings. She grew up in Pittsburgh where she was first introduced to the wondrous ruins of the industrial revolution. Her fine art degree from Carnegie Mellon and her years working in the set painters union in NYC have forged her artistic versatility. The story In the Shadow of the Sugar Factory was inspired by Amy’s daughter and two sons. She has spent many hours walking the streets of Williamsburg with them, wondering if ghosts haunt the historic Domino Sugar building and what those ghosts might tell them about life in the time when factories lined the Brooklyn riverfront.
